Back to the Model in Color
Looks like after two days uploading might be possible again - at least I think I got one picture loaded... wish blogger would give us better status reports when these problems occur!Labels: 2008, ArtistsChoice, Media: Pencil/Graphite, Media: Watercolor, Process: From Photo(s), Style: Realistic, Subject: Head, Where: San Francisco (Florida St.)

Home with a Cold, in a Sea of Stripes (Final)
I had a misguided idea that after doing this I'd be able to 'simply' layer color washes over it for full color, but after some failed exper-imentation on the side, I have decided to leave quite well enough alone.

Something Different, Day 3 (final)
Here it is again, one last time. (Click here to see the three stages next to each other.) The changes are mostly at top and bottom - from the filtrum down and from the ears up (mostly just the hair up top). I had to redo the lower right, which I had been perfectly happy with, because some kind of flashing light fuss outside distracted me and my sleeve swiped across and erased it. Well, that's the essential problem of working this way in charcoal - you can get incredible subtly of values but the medium itself is fleeting no matter how much stuff you spray on it - on the sprays change it, too, mostly darkening everything.

Round Mirror with the Yellow Plastic Frame
And such a nice yellow, don't you think? I remember that mirror very well, the feel and heft of it, the hook on the back of it. I remember everything except where and when it went away from me; maybe it's joined the eyeless stuffed animals and three-wheeled cars in the playground of lost toys.
