iDraw: No Sense of Harmony, No Sense of Time
The song then continues "And I'm blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind, blind", which is what I was when I made this drawing. Right-handed, though.Labels: 2009, artist, contemporary, daily, every day, Faves: 2009.02, julia kay, Media: Digital, Media: iPod Colors, Media: iPod Touch, painter, portrait, Process: Eyes Closed, Process: From Imagination, Process: In 15 minutes or less, self-portrait, Skin Tones: Pink + Yellow, Subject: Head, Where: San Francisco (Florida St.)

iDraw: Sketchinz!
This was done in Sketchinz I've been wondering for awhile if someone would come out with a program like this. It's a sort of modern-day etch-a-sketch. You have a cursor on the screen, you move it by tilting, and as it moves it draws a line. There are a few settings for line thickness and color. You can use a photo as a background to trace, as I did here. There is no erase and no undo. If you're not using a photo you can sort of erase by using a thick white line, but there isn't anything to take you back to the underlying photo once you've made a line in any color.
My other complaint is that the setting to stop drawing so you can move the cursor to a new location is not nearly sensitive enough - it usually takes me a few hits to get it to stop drawing and meanwhile if you aren't holding your device completely still & level, it's making a line. However, the cursor moves really quite slowly so you do have quite a lot more control than you mighr expect. As a future feature though, I'd like to be able to set the speed of movement and sensitivity to tilt. Last, the website claims you can't save images in the free version. Well, you can't save hi-resolution images but you can take screen shots, as I did here. And that's my iDraw report for tonight!

iDraw: Early Easter Colors
In the 80s I used to give my self-portraits really exciting titles like 'Julia XV, 1985'. I guess I've gotten past that but it's still hard to come up with the perfect title for every image.Labels: 2009, artist, contemporary, daily, every day, Faves: 2009.02, julia kay, Media: Digital, Media: iPod Brushes, Media: iPod Touch, painter, portrait, Process: From Imagination, Process: WC, self-portrait, Skin Tones: Pink, Subject: Head, Where: San Francisco (Florida St.)

iDraw: Little Bootsie
An homage to Liz Mamorsky's Big Bootsie. They say Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so you already know I think her sculptures are fantastic and you should check them out!Labels: 2009, artist, contemporary, daily, every day, Faves: 2009.02, julia kay, Media: Digital, Media: iPod Colors, Media: iPod Touch, painter, portrait, Process: From Imagination, Process: From Photo(s), self-portrait, Subject: Fictional, Subject: I Turned Myself Into a..., Subject: Other Artists, Where: San Francisco (Florida St.)

iDraw: Not a Silkscreen
...but it could be. It's also reminiscent in it's flatness of the work of Alex Katz, though to be honest I've never been a big fan of his work.Labels: 2009, artist, contemporary, daily, every day, Faves: 2009.02, julia kay, Media: Digital, Media: iPod Sketches, Media: Photoshop, painter, portrait, Process: Directly From a Photo, Process: WC, self-portrait, Skin Tones: Pink, Style: Coloring Book, Style: Contour Lines, Subject: Head, Subject: Wearing a hat, Where: San Francisco (Florida St.)

iDraw: Among the Potted Plants
In my mother's feminist household, these were always called "'snake plant"' but despite its political incorrectness I prefer the more colorful "mother-in-law's tongue", another common name for the same plant.Labels: 2009, artist, contemporary, daily, every day, Faves: 2009.02, julia kay, Media: Digital, Media: iPod Brushes, Media: iPod Touch, painter, portrait, Process: From a Sketch, Process: In 15 minutes or less, self-portrait, Skin Tones: Fleshy (Cauc.), Style: Loose and Scribbly, Subject: Head, Subject: With Plants, Where: San Francisco (Florida St.)
